About MRO

The Magdalena Ridge Observatory (MRO) is located on 1,000 acres at 10,600 feet in the Magdalena Mountains of the Cibola National Forest in Socorro County, New Mexico (NM). This multi-use research and educational observatory is built and operated by the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) with offices located on the NMT campus in Socorro, NM.

Astrophotography Exhibit at Macey Center
Magdalena Ridge Observatory Interferometer photographers Colleen Gino and Dylan Etscorn are exhibiting a collection of astrophotography at New Mexico Tech’s Macey Center from now through September 16. The exhibition includes wide field astrophotos taken at MRO, the VLA, and Spaceport America, as well as deep sky images taken with MROI’s Bachman-Challener Outreach Telescope, a 4-inch Takahashi refractor. The prints are available for purchase. The Macey Center is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM.
